The incident occurred in Lafia, the state capital on Friday, 21st October, 2022.
According to reports, Blessing had beaten the lecturer’s daughter, Emmanuella, for trying to snatch her boyfriend simply identified as IG.
Radiojagan gathered that Fight ensued after blessing discovered that Emmanuella had her boyfriend’s number in her phone.
She reportedly asked her (Emmanuella) to delete the number, however she refused.
Blessing then gathered her friends to beat Emmanuella.
In a short video in circulation, she’s seen slapping Emmanuella and hitting her from different angles, asking her to delete the number while her friends were recording.
Days after the incident, Emmanuella,
in the company of her father, Dr. Fred Ekpe Ayokhai, and his brother, Praise Shola, retaliated by brutalizing Blessing.
In a video that went viral today, Saturday, 22 October, 2022, Blessing is seen receiving a cruel treatment from Dr Fred’s family.
The 20-year-old girl was beaten and naked by the lecturer and his children, while they recorded the brutality.
Reacting, the Nasarawa State Police Command said that they started investigating the matter and two suspects have been arrested.
The statement released by DSP Ramhan Nansel, Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer reads in part:
“sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa state, the Command swiftly commenced investigation into the case.
It is gratifying to state that, two suspects, namely: Dr. Fred Ekpa Ayokhai, an associate professor with the Department of History and International Studies, Federal University of Lafia and one Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle belonging to Dr Fred which was used in conveying the victim to a location along Kwandere road, Lafia where she was assaulted has been recovered.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai and the victim had a misunderstanding over a man named IG. The victim accused Emmanuela of snatching her supposed boyfriend and assaulted her. In retaliation, Emmanuela mobilised her family, went after the victim and got her assaulted as well.
The Commissioner of police, AIG Adesina Soyemi has ordered an intensive man hunt for the other fleeing suspects and further directed that, those arrested should be charged to court for prosecution upon conclusion of investigation at the State Criminal Department, Lafia”
However, as of the time of filing this report, FULafia, where Dr. Fred works in the department of History and International relations, was yet to react on the issue.
