INEC postpones governorship election as court grants PDP, LP request to inspect election materials

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has postponed the governorship and state of assembly elections scheduled to hold on 11th of March 2023.

The commission Wednesday, postponed the elections by one week which implies that the election would be carried out on March 18.

INEC’s decision was taken after a closed door meeting held by its National Chairman, professor Mahmood Yakubu and his commissioners over the governorship election.

According to the Punch, the meeting kicked off at exactly 7pm on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the court of appeal has granted the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as their Respective candidates, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar’s request to inspect every susceptible material used in the conduct of the just concluded Presidential election.

The LP and PDP had earlier rejected the results of the 2023 presidential election which produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC winner as declared by INEC.
