Tinubu wins Benue State

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has won the presidential election in Benue state.

According to the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Benue, Faruk Kuta who announced the result on Monday at the INEC head office in Makurdi, the state capital, APC’s Tinubu polled 310,468 votes, followed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who secured 308,372 votes.

Faruk added that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 130,081 votes, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) polled 4,740 votes.

Obi won 15 LGAs including Guma, where Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, hails from, while Tinubu secured eight LGAs.

The official announcement of the winner is expected.
