American football player, Damar Hamlin, is in a critical condition in the hospital after he reportedly collapsed during a game on Monday night.
According to reports, Hamlin collapsed during his Monday night game on the field against Bengals as his heart reportedly stopped beating.
Giving an update on Tuesday via it’s Twitter handle, the Buffalo Bills, that he plays for said he is currently sedated.
The statement read:
“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment.
“He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”
Meanwhile, the medical emergency has sparked an outpouring of prayers and well-wishes from fans, commentators, other players, and across social media platforms and brought attention back to the particularly dangerous nature of America’s most popular sport.
In pictures that surfaced on social media early on Tuesday morning, players, fans at the stadium were all in tears as medical staff worked to revive Hamlin. The game was later postponed.
