Some unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed three people while kidnapping eight nursing mothers with babies in the Tauji area of Kanoma North in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to reports, an indigene of the area Mohammed Maisa, said the incident occurred around 1:40 am on Sunday when the notorious bandits stormed the area in their large number.
Maisa added that the bandits who were on motorcycles scared off people in the area with sporadic gun shots before fishing out victims from the various homes they entered.
“They later went from house to house searching for people to kidnap.
“They succeeded in kidnapping eight women who are mostly nursing mothers and killed three persons who wanted to escape,” he said.
Punch reports that the District Head of the town, Alhaji Ibrahim Nabature (Sarkin Sudan), who confirmed the incident is calling on the state government and relevant security agencies to deploy adequate security personnel to the area to avert rampant attacks on the Zamfara communities.
