A 36 year-old Nigerian, John Lyon, has been arrested after a N70 million ransom payment was allegedly traced to his bank account.
In a viral video, handcuffed John Lyon allegedly confesses of being involved in only two kidnap operations as he pleads for forgiveness, claiming that his wife was just delivered of a baby boy.
Crying, he said, “Forgive me, make una forgive me, my wife just born sef, a boy.”
Several videos of the suspect, where he was flaunting himself as a big boy, are currently trending on social media.
It would be recalled that the same John Lyon had in one Instagram video, flaunted dollars and told Nigerian youths to hustle, meaning they should work hard.
Radiojagaban also gathered that Those who know John Lyon said he is a millionaire based in Abuja. That he was an ex – banker with one of the big banks in Nigeria and uses the name Lyon Interior as a cover up for illicit crime activities.
Also, it was gathered that John Lyon is a brother to David Lyon, a former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 Bayelsa gubernatorial election.
David was declared winner of the election, but a day to his swearing-in as governor, his election was invalidated by the Supreme Court which ruled that his running mate, Degi Eremienyo Wangagra submitted a fake certificate to INEC.
The apex court ordered that Douye Diri of PDP who came second in the election be issued a certificate of return and sworn in as governor.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command has confirmed the arrest upon being contacted.
