Suspected Ebonyi lovers have been arrested by the Police State command in Ebonyi for selling their baby boy for the sum of N500,000.
Ola, 20, is an indigen of Amangwu Edda in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State while her boyfriend Jonah is a bricklayer.
The suspects who bore their son out of wedlock in April, 2022 allegedly conspired and sold the baby to a maternity homeowner in Afikpo LGA, popularly known as “Mummy Abigail.’’
In a statement released Tuesday by the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu, “Mummy Abigail” runs a maternity home which she uses as a cover for her illicit trade.
The PPRO said,
“Mummy Abigail runs a maternity home, which she uses as a cover for her illicit trade.
“The suspects have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for necessary actions and prosecution.”
The suspected Ebonyi lovers are originally known as Ola China and Jonah Ogbuagu.
