Police have arrested a 46-year-old man in Ogun State for reportedly raping his biological daughter.
The suspect, Olusegun Oluwole, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command following a complaint lodged at the Ibara Police Station in Abeokuta, by the victim.
According to reports, the victim came to the police station to report the assault in the company of some operatives of the So-Safe Corps.
Responding, DPO of Ibara division, CSP Bernard Egbondiya, swung into action by detailing his detectives to the scene, where the arrest of the suspect was effected.
In a statement released on Sunday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the victim’s father committed the act around 11:30 PM while she was asleep.
“Her father, having observed that others are fast asleep, suddenly grabbed her and forcefully had s*x with her with a threat to kill her if she refused to allow him.”
The PPRO added that the man arrested for raping his biological daughter has also confessed to the commission of the crime, however claimed that he didn’t know what came over him.
“On interrogation, the father of six pleaded for forgiveness, claiming not knowing what came over him when he committed the crime,”
The Ogun State Police Commissioner, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the State CIID for further investigation and prosecution.
