Hairstyle sent Cameroonian bike rider to early grave

Cameroonian soldiers had allegedly shot dead a commercial motorcyclist on the assumption that he was a Separatist’s fighter, due to his hairstyle.

The deceased identified as, Ngwa Jonas, had on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, went about his commercial riding, transporting passengers from one end of the subdivision to another, when the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to reports, the deceased had dropped some passengers at Mile 11 Bafut, but evening heavy rains caught up with him, preventing him from living the area.

Ngwa had no other option than to take refuge in a filling station situated 15 metres away from a control post.

While hiding, some soldiers within the area reportedly called and demanded they identify themselves which they all identified.

The soldiers further asked them to remove their caps and upon seeing the deceased’s hairstyles, they ask the other guy to go while they detained him by 9 pm and later executed him.

An eyewitness told Cameroon News Agency that:
“some soldiers called and asked them to identify themselves, which they all identified. They were asked to remove their caps and upon seeing the hairstyle of Ngwa Jonas, they ask the other guy to go and he was detained there by 9 pm. That same Tuesday he was executed 500m away from the checkpoint.”

Amidst tears from relatives, Ngwa was buried on September 1, 2022.
