    The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has suspended one of their lecturers, Dr. Olaniran Balogun, over alleged abuse of office.

    Balogun, who until his suspension was Head of the Department of Religious Studies at the university was on 24th August, 2022, declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission.

    The lecturer was declared wanted in connection with a suspected case of demand for gratification and abuse of office.

    The anti-graft agency in a statement released reads:

    “The person whose picture appears here, OLANIRAN BALOGUN hereby declared WANTED by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (CPC) in connection with a suspected case of demand for gratification and abuse of office”

    “He has refused to honour several invitations extended to him through the authorities of Tai Solarin University of Education, ljebu Ode, Ogun State”

    “Accordingly, a warrant of arrest has been issued for his immediate arrest. He is advised to report himself to any of the ICPC State Offices in either Lagos, Ibadan or the nearest Police station”

    The statement also called anyone with useful information about his whereabouts to report to the Sexual Harassment Response Team (SHART), Office of the Hon. Chairman, ICPC Headquarters Abuja, any of the ICPC State Offices or the nearest police station, or call ICPC Tol-Free lines: 0803-123-0280, 0803-123-0281, 0803-123-0282, 0705-699-0190, 0705-699-0191 and 0800-CALL-ICPC (0800-2255-4272.

    Meanwhile, TASUED’s Deputy Registrar, Media and Corporate Relations, Gbenga Omilola, has today disclosed that, Dr. Balogun has been suspended by the university management pending when he would clear himself of all allegations of misdemeanors brought against him by the anti-graft agency.

    The register also disclosed that, following his suspension, the management has appointed, Dr Kayode Olusanya, to take over his position as the Head of Department of Religious Studies.

    The statement released by the registrar partly read,

    “Dr Balogun is currently under investigation for the alleged misdemeanor and has since been relieved of his position as the Head of Department, Religious Studies”

    “He has also been placed on interdiction until he clears himself of the various allegations levelled against him by the ICPC”

    “The university management would continue to do all within its powers to protect the good name and image the university has built for itself over the years”

    TASUED also advised the suspended lecturer to immediately honour the invitation of the ICPC to clear himself of the allegations against him.
