Rapper Fetty Wap admits drug charge, risks minimum of five years imprisonment

Famous American rapper Fetty Wap has pleaded guilty to an indictment by the US court which attracts a minimum of five years jail term.

Fetty Wap who rose to prominence in 2015 after his debut single, ‘Trap Queen’ reached No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, was in October 2021, arrested on charges of conspiracy to smuggle large amounts of heroin, fentanyl and other drugs into the New York area.

The rapper was however granted pretrial bail but was rearrested after a US Magistrate Judge Steven Locke, revoked his bail two weeks ago for threatening to kill a man during a FaceTime call in 2021.

According to sources, Rapper Fetty Wap alongside five co-defendants were accused of conspiring to possess and distribute more than 100kg (220lbs) of heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine between June 2019 and June 2020 via a scheme that allegedly involves using the US Postal Service and cars with hidden compartments to move drugs from the West Coast to Long Island where they were stored for distribution to dealers.

Originally Willie Junior Maxwell II, the rapper On Monday, pleaded guilty to the top charge against him which includes conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances,

Meanwhile, the arrest comes two months after he confirmed the death of his four-year-old daughter Lauren.

Maxwell is to serve a minimum of five-years jail term while federal sentencing guidelines are likely to recommend additional years in prison.

Sources who viewed his website disclosed that he was scheduled to perform in Austin, Texas, on 27 August.
