An Ilorin Magistrate Court presided by Fatimah Salihu, has ordered Pastor Makanjuola Olabisi Lanre of the Revolutionary Insight Church in Ilorin, Kwara State, to be remanded in Mandala Correctional facility until September 14, 2022.

Magistrate Fatimah made the order when the pastor appeared before the court.

The pastor was arrested and arraigned before the court by the Kwara State Police Command for allegedly raping three of his biological sisters.

According to the police First Information Report in 2018, the suspect preached to and converted the three sisters to his Church, Revolutionary Insight Church, located at Agba Dam area of Ilorin.

Pastor Lanre allegedly invited the eldest sister for prayers after she rejected his proposal to be his lover.

He, however, raped her and her two siblings at different times, the report said.

The FIR further stated that, when they realized the evil intentions of their brother, they decided to stop attending the church.

Enraged by their actions, the pastor reportedly threatened that calamity would befall them.

“When the complainant (victims) discovered that the pastor had been taking sexual advantage of them, they stopped attending the church, a development that made the pastor threaten that calamity will befall them,” the report said.

Ruling on the matter, the trial Magistrate, Fatimah Salihu, said the court lacked jurisdiction to take the pastor’s plea after the prosecutor, Matthew Ologbonsaye, told the court of the motion exparte attached to the charges.

Matthew urged the court to remand pastor Lanre until the outcome of the legal advice.

Magistrate Fatimah Salihu, therefore, adjourned the matter to 14th September, 2022, for mention.
