A 24-year-old girl, Miss Linet Chepkorir, famously known as Toto, has been declared winner of the Bomet Women Representative seat in the just concluded Kenyan’s General Election.
Toto, who contested under the UDA party defeated her major rival, Alice Milgo, with over 200,600 votes.
Miss Linet, who has just graduated from the university has been able to reach where she is with the aid of her friends and course mates.
When she indicated her interest to jostle for the seat, her friends and schoolmates fundraised for her to pay the nomination fee. They also helped to run the campaign for her.
She was declared the winner after she got 242,775 of the votes cast, while her major rival, Alice Milgo, got only 42,1721 votes.
When she was announced by the IEBC as the winner, the young girl broke into tears while addressing people in her county, in a video seen by Radiojagaban.
Hundreds of motorcycle riders, old and young people blocked her while returning home and brought her home in a grand style.
Jubilations have been everywhere like the air in her home town.
