Abuja cleaner bags eight months imprisonment for stealing laptop, cash and a ring.

A 32-year-old cleaner, Mr Peter Calistus, had been sentenced to eight months in prison for trespassing into the office of one Ohanatu Sandra, and stealing her property.

Before Mr Peter was sentenced, the prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that, on August 3, 2022, the Gwarinpa police station received a complainant from Ohanatu Sandra, that the accused, at about 2pm, trespassed into her office and stole her four laptops, a ring and N300,000 cash.

The prosecutor said the complainant’s four laptops valued at N280,000, while the ring valued at N80,000.

The convict, Mr Calistus, did not deny the accusation as he pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and theft and begged the court for leniency.

Delivering judgment, the Judge, Mr Suleman Ola, sentenced the convict to eight months in prison with an option of N40,000 fine.

Judge Suleman also warned him to desist from committing crime.
