A 2017 study from the European Commission found that 93% of European workplaces use computers, with 94% utilizing the internet. These are across all industries; even farmers, the report pointed out, require digital skills in the 21st century.

This digital skills gap has consequences not only for job seekers but the industry itself. The European Commission found that 38% of workplaces suffered negative results as a consequence of a lack of digital skills. This digital skills gap is more pronounced in highly-skilled professions.
With the right digital skills, software and internet connection one can become a great digital freelancer.

Digital literacy is very important, as it boosts student engagement and helps students improve their academic performance by making them think critically and creatively, thereby making them solve problems, and also helps individuals stand out from their competition in the labour or job market.
